We discourage anyone from bringing small children into the studio. However sometimes this cannot be helped. All we ask is that you keep them under control. If you are getting a tattoo and will be in the studio longer than 1 hr. then PLEASE do not bring in children, unless you have someone with you to watch them.
We are open everyday from 12 noon to 10pm.
First, and most important, you should not be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. Alcohol works against a tattoo or piercing in several ways: First, it impairs your judgment and you may pick out a tattoo, or get a piercing, that is silly or not at all what you really want.
Second, alcohol thins your blood and makes you bleed more, therefore inhibiting us from doing the procedure correctly and safely.
Third, alcohol can make you flinch or twitch, and we can not tattoo or pierce someone who is moving around. Drugs are a bad combination with tattoos and piercing as well, in fact, they can be a fatal combination. The adrenaline rush in your body can react with some drugs and can cause respiratory and cardiac failure. Some drugs, such as marijuana can cause the pain of a tattoo or piercing to be intensified and can be extremely painful.
A sober person is the easiest to tattoo and pierce, and a sober person can handle a tattoo or piercing much better than a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It is a good idea to eat a well-balanced meal 2-3 hours before receiving a tattoo or piercing.
If for any reason we believe you to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol we will not be able to pierce or tattoo you!
If your tattoo or piercing was done under the cleanest possible circumstances with sterile instruments, in a sterile environment, with sterile supplies, and by a gloved artist, the after care of your tattoo or piercing is up to you. The risk of infection is minimal if your tattoo or piercing is properly taken care of and is not exposed to dirt, pet hair, swimming pools, lake or ocean water, hot tubs, dirty clothes, dirty bed linens, etc. It is important that you keep your tattoo or piercing clean at all times while it is healing.
In this day and age tattoos and piercing are completely safe if done in a clean environment by a professional with sterile instruments. There have never been any cases of AIDS reported due to tattoos. Hepatitis can be contracted through dirty needles in tattooing or piercing, but this can be completely avoided by going to a professional who practices sterile/aseptic techniques and properly disposes of instruments and supplies used during the procedure.
An autoclave is a pressurized device designed to heat aqueous solutions above their boiling point at higher-than-normal pressures to achieve sterilization. A medical autoclave is a device that uses steam and pressure to sterilize equipment and other objects. This means that all bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores are inactivated.
We at Mystical Illusions use a Tuttnauer EZ10 autoclave. Tuttnauer markets its products worldwide through companies in the USA and Europe as well as representatives and dealers throughout the world and is considered one of the 3 leading manufacturers in the world in the infection control market.
Tuttnauer's products have developed parallel to the research conducted by scientists in a variety of fields and continue to meet the high standards that are required for safe, effective and environmental friendly sterilization.
The systems are based on microprocessor technology, and the cutting edge control unit monitors, displays, and documents all sterilization parameters.
Tuttnauer products serve as standard equipment in hospitals-operating theatres, CSSD, day surgeries, universities, research institutes, dental and surgical clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, and various manufacturing industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, etc.
To ensure that our autoclave is working properly, we send in a monthly “Spore Test” to the Oklahoma State Dept of Health, where they test a “test strip” that was ran through a sterilization cycle of our autoclave. If there is “growth” on the test strip then that means that our autoclave is not killing all the bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores, and they are “germinating”. In the 8 years of business we have never had this happen. Our sterilizers have always been and will always be top priority!
Reusable equipment such as forceps, ring opening pliers, receiving tubes, etc. go through a 3 step cleaning process before being put into sterilization bags and sterilized.
Body modification (or body alteration) is the permanent or semi-permanent deliberate altering of the human body for non-medical reasons, such as: sexual enhancement; a rite of passage; aesthetic reasons; denoting affiliation, trust and loyalty; religious reasons; mystical affiliations; shock value; and self-expression.[1]. It can range from the socially acceptable decoration (e.g., pierced ears in many societies) to the religiously mandated (e.g., circumcision in a number of cultures), and everywhere in between. Body art is a modification of any part of the human body for artistic or aesthetic reasons.

You are not required to tip your piercer. But, you must remember that each piercer typically has to pay a booth rent or percentage to the shop owner. A tip is voluntary and should be dependant on the service that you receive. If your piercer does an amazing job and makes the experience a positive one it would be appropriate to tip. If you are displeased with the piercer or experience you should feel free to not give a tip as well.
For best results in healing your new piercing, you should not soak in any kind of water (unless you are soaking piercing in the sea salt solution). You may shower as usual, just try not to let the water hit the piercing directly. Lake and ocean water are teeming with bacteria and could cause an infection. is allowed to heal, forming a tunnel of scar tissue
called a fistula. When the piercing has fully healed,
the initial jewelry may be changed .

Tattoos (9)
A tattoo machine is a hand-held device generally used to create a tattoo, a permanent marking of the skin with ink. Modern tattoo machines use alternating electromagnetic coils to move a needle bar up and down, driving pigment into the skin. Tattoo artists generally use the word "machine", or even "iron", to refer to their equipment. The word "gun" is often used by people uneducated with the tattoo industry, and is actually a derogatory term for a tattoo machine.
You are not required to tip your artist. But, you must remember that each artist typically has to pay a booth rent or percentage to the shop owner. A tip is voluntary and should be dependant on the service that you receive. If your artist does an amazing job and makes the experience a positive one it would be appropriate to tip. If you are displeased with the artist or experience you should feel free to not give a tip as well.
NO! Never ever should you expose your tattoo to the harmful rays of the sun or tanning beds! Your tattoo is going to be with you for the rest of your life, take care of it! The sun and tanning beds will fade your tattoo even after it is healed, always use a SPF 40 or higher sun block, not sun screen, sun block is the only thing that will block the rays of the sun and lights of the tanning bed.
For best results in healing your new tattoo you should not soak in any kind of water . You may shower as usual, just try not to let the water hit the tattoo directly. Lake and ocean water are teeming with bacteria and could cause an infection. Swimming pool water has chlorine in it, which has a bleaching effect on a new tattoo.
This flaking or peeling is part of the normal healing process. It is the body natural way of getting rid of damadged skin. Kind of like a sunburn. Often the peeling will itch but it is very important not to scratch or pick at the flaking skin. You may notice that the flakes may be colored, this is perfectly normal.
Initial healing of a tattoo is about 5 to 10 days, complete healing of a tattoo is 45 days, this is how long it takes for skin to regenerate itself after being damaged. Please see tattoo aftercare.
For tattoos we use professionally made, high quality, pre-sterilized, single-use needles that come individually packaged. (tattoo needles are a group of small needles ,called sharps, that are soldered onto a bar) Needles range in size and shape depending on what the artist wants to use to achieve the desired effect!
You must be at least 18 years of age with Government issued ID (drivers license, passport, military ID etc.) to get a tattoo.
A tattoo is a permanent marking made by inserting ink into the layers of skin to change the pigment for decorative or other reasons. Tattoos on humans are a type of decorative body modification, while tattoos on animals are most commonly used for identification or branding.
Tattooing has been practiced worldwide. The Ainu, the indigenous people of Japan, traditionally wore facial tattoos. Today one can find Berbers of Tamazgha (North Africa) and Maori of New Zealand with facial tattoos. Tattooing was widespread among Polynesian peoples and among certain tribal groups in the Philippines, Borneo, Mentawai Islands, Africa, North America, South America, Mesoamerica, Europe, Japan, Cambodia, New Zealand and Micronesia. Despite some taboos surrounding tattooing, the art continues to be popular in many parts of the world.
